Monika MaeckleLast week, the Rivard Report moved beyond local news website status to become a fashion statement.

Our first order of T-shirts arrived, and we’ve been busy handing them out like Christmas cookies to so many of you who’ve helped make our first year such a success.

People like Don Dimick and Carolina Canizales, our first intern helpers.   And of course, our Geekdom neighbors at Innovative Multimedia Group, Roughneck Graphics and ZippyKid who designed, launched and support our site, and  Graham Weston, David Barnett and Lorenzo Gomez at the 80/20 Foundation for their inspiration and sponsorship support.

Our dozens of contributors and community voices have produced 320+ blogposts since Feb. 13.  (Watch for a post about our Top 10 most-viewed posts on New Year’s Eve), generating 8,300+ comments and almost a quarter-million views.  Need we point out that Rivard Report readers are highly engaged?

We are especially grateful to Miriam Sitz and Bekah McNeel, who have become regular contributors, adding their unique San Antonio perspectives to our merry band. And we are so fortunate to have found the multi-talented Iris Dimmick to lead the charge as our managing editor. We found Iris through a post published –guess where?–on the Rivard Report.

Thank you, ladies, for all you do to lighten our load with your insight, craft, and refreshing reliability in meeting deadlines.

Our advertisers continue to help us build the website’s financial foundation, from the first square banner ad bought by Derba Mills of Clothesline Cleaners, to advertising support from Arts San Antonio, the Majestic Theater and Arts Center Enterprises, the Pearl, Can Plant, UTSA, Centro Properties, Rancho Ojo de Agua, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare, MBS Fitness and the YMCA.  Gracias a todos.

We extend a special shout-out to HEB for their sponsorship.  It’s often a tough sell to convince marketing folks at major corporations to bet on a new horse, but HEB did.  They have been a fantastic, much appreciated partner.  We are grateful for their faith in us.

Eddie Romero (pictured above) of the Localist Map and Red Collar Media has been instrumental in building our advertising base.   We wish him the best as he moves on to become membership coordinator for the Centro Partnership and Downtown Alliance.  And our friend, neighbor and Geekdom resident Hugh Donagher, who helps us with mailing list, WordPress, and other technical issues, while also contributing the periodic well-crafted blog post.

We are especially thankful for all of you who read, comment on and share the Rivard Report.   Please keep reading and we’ll keep writing. And if you’d like to extend your support for us to the point of wearing our T-shirt (super soft 50/50 American Apparel blend, sizes S-M-L-XL-XXL and XXXL,  $25), just drop us a line at rivardreport@gmail.com.  We’ll figure out the details of getting one to you.

Happy holidays to all, and may next year be even better!

Monika Maeckle, Robert Rivard and Iris Dimmick
