Joeris General Contractors, Ltd. named John Casstevens as new company president on Tuesday, the latest move in the firm’s succession planning process. Casstevens, who previously served as chief of operations, will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company’s three offices and 377 employees and leading its strategic planning.

The company has provided services as a general contractor since 1967, but had led recent projects including the new H-E-B store on South Flores, the Culinary Institute of America and Pearl Brewery and the ongoing development of Hemsifair. Casstevens is expected to bring his experiences as a former construction project manager and project executive to the new position.

“It’s a tremendous honor to be in a position to lead the company where I have worked for over 20 years,” Casstevens stated Tuesday in a news release. “I’m excited for the next generation of Joeris leaders and what we still have in front of us to accomplish as a team as we maintain steady and controlled growth.”

Gary Joeris, son of founder Leo Joeris, said he will continue as Joeris’ CEO and play a role in the development of new regional and vertical markets. Joeris said that he was pleased with the direction the company is headed, including the changes from Executive Vice President Stephen Walter.

“The timing was right,” Joeris stated. “Stephen has a desire to phase out of company operations and we have a great group of talented individuals ready to lead.

“John is one of those who is more than ready to take the helm and we are all excited about the energy and passion he brings to the task and challenges ahead. 2016 will be another great year for Joeris, one of many to come.”

Joeris is based in San Antonio with additional offices in Dallas/Fort Worth and Austin. The company provides project management and related solutions to a number of residential, commercial and industrial clients.
