San Antonio filmmaker Reni Cisneros has been selected as one of three prize-winning films for this year’s Neighborhood Film Project. The Rivard Report and the San Antonio Film Commission have teamed up to screen the winning films as well as previous winners during City Block Cinema at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center on July 22.

Cisneros’ film “A Day to Remember” is set on the Eastside and revolves around “two best friends having one last trip around town.”

Cisneros, who grew up on San Antonio’s Eastside, said she first pursued film because it seemed fun, and is now willing to commit the rest of her life to film. She is currently enrolled in The Urban Film School and will continue her film studies at the collegiate level.

Cisneros gravitated toward the Eastside for the film’s setting.

“When exploring with my film crew, we were struck and inspired by the street art, architecture, and people,” Cisneros said.

Cisneros has never shown her films to a large audience, City Block Cinema will be her first time. The event will be a welcome reward for the hard work that Cisneros and her team put into this film. It’s also the first time winning films from the Neighborhood Film Project have been celebrated and screened in such a way. The Film Commission, a division of the City’s Department for Culture and Creative Development, hopes to start a new tradition.

Buy your ticket to support Cisnero’s award winning film “A Day To Remember” (as well as many other films) on July 22 at the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center here. Tickets are $10 and doors open at 6 p.m. and drinks will be provided by Dor?ol Distillery and Alamo Beer Co.

The one and only Molly Cox, interim President and CEO of SA2020, will serve as the emcee for the night.
