  1. Several years ago Andrew Sansom published his research that Texas is more often in drought than in “average” rainfall pattern; thus indicating rainfall patterns are becoming more extreme.
    A great way to decrease human alteration of the hydrologic cycle and to have a landscape that naturally endures such extremes is to utilize plants native to the local area.
    There is a rare opportunity to get close-up views of such pants in their habitats October 18-21, 2018, when the Native Plant Society of Texas Fall Symposium allows all participants to get better acquainted with plants of the San Antonio River Basin. The annual Fall Symposium was last held in San Antonio in 2006, and was at a site in a different ecoregion.
