Our March 31 installment of Something Monday, the casual and social bike ride in downtown San Antonio, will be partnering up with the San Antonio AIDS Foundation (SAAF), who are gearing up for their annual WEBB Party April 11, to explore the KYSM 90.1 studios.
KSYM is focused on serving the community by helping nonprofits like SAAF and local, unsigned artists reach a larger audience – and providing real-world experience in radio, music and broadcasting industries.
KSYM, located in the Jean Longwith building at San Antonio College, is the oldest community college radio station in Texas. We will be given a tour by Charlie Castleman, who manages underwriting and is a DJ for the radio station, and Donnie Meals, the program coordinator for San Antonio Colleges Music Business Program.
The station is holding it’s spring pledge drive, so we’ll be getting a unique tour – bustling with activity.
We will depart at 6:30 p.m. from the San Antonio B-Cycle station located at The Pearl in front of the Full Goods Building. Bring your own bike, or utilize Texas’ first bike share program, B-cycle. It’s an easy, 2.5-mile ride to the SAC campus.
After the tour, we will make our way back to the midtown area where we will be treated to a private gathering at the new Grayson Street Eatery for some food, craft beer, and conversation.
We hope to see you there.
