TEDxSan Antonio, now in its eighth year, will feature talks ranging from art and film to food and hoops in topics reflecting San Antonio’s 300th anniversary year.

Announced Tuesday, the TEDxSan Antonio speaker lineup for its 2018 event titled, “Past, Present, Future,” features a broad range of local presenters who will discuss “ideas worth spreading” on Nov. 3. The event, also featuring recorded TED talks, will be held at the Charline McCombs Empire Theatre for the first time.

TED began in 1984 as a conference with talks delivered on technology, entertainment, and design, and today covers topics from science to business to global issues at an annual event in California. Independently run TEDx events help share ideas in communities around the world.

The local TEDx chapter, licensed to Chris Sandoval, a digital product manager at USAA, has produced more than 20 events in all since 2009. About 650 people attend the main TEDxSan Antonio event annually.

Sandoval said this year’s theme reflects San Antonio’s 300th anniversary, as the TEDx program is recognized as an official Tricentennial event, and because it will highlight ideas worth sharing from San Antonio’s past, present and future.

Unlike previous TEDx main events in San Antonio, the 2018 event will be a half-day program, starting with registration at 1 p.m. and continuing with talks until 6 p.m., with an after-party reception at Rio Plaza.

Ticket prices are lower this year as well. Currently on sale at a reduced early-bird rate through Sept. 12, regular-priced tickets will be available online until Nov. 2, and if any remain, on the day of the event.

Former San Antonio Spurs Coyote Rob Wicall will emcee the event featuring these 10 speakers:
